About

The simplest summary so far would be something like this: I was born in Africa, grew up in Maryland, went to college in Virginia, graphic designer by day, indie musician by night. But let’s stick with music for now, I’m assuming that’s why you’re here…

For me, I see music as a uniquely powerful way to convey a message, with or without words. Sure, it’s beautiful on its own and can connect with you abstractly without you knowing why, but at its core music is always rooted to a context, to a message/feeling/sentiment of some kind…to our view of reality even. That’s why every single person has their own opinion about it. My songs are always at their core challenges to myself, and reminders of truths I need to hear. They are reflections of who I am and who I aspire to be. The influence some of my favorite artists have had on me, like Jon Foreman, Jars of Clay, and Derek Webb, is something I’m extremely grateful for, and if any of my songs can somehow play that same kind of role in someone else’s life, there’s not much more I could ask for.

If you’re going to understand my music, then you’ve got to understand this: No matter who you are or what you do, truth supercedes it all. Who I am and what I do would mean nothing at all if it wasn’t rooted in something eternal. Music, art, beauty, life, etc,… they only derive their meaning from the One who gave meaning to them. I am a firm believer in God, and as a sinner who has separated myself from Him, my only hope of being reconciled to Him is through Jesus Christ.

Not sure what your stereotype or stigma of Christians is, but don’t make the mistake of throwing the good out with the bad. Read it and find out for yourself >>
